Arcana is about teamwork, collaboration and creative problem-solving. each of our team brings their diverse background and skill set to contribute to our eclectic projects. our passion is the pursuit of telling great stories with our work while creating something new, something magical that makes each viewer have an experience they will remember.
Mike Turner is the owner of the Arcana Workshop, LLC. A professional artist and maker for over 20 years, he graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1997. In 2015, he founded the Arcana Workshop, LLC as a place to merge art and technology in an effort to create more engaging experiences for smaller clientele. Arcana’s work has ranged from public education, retail and hospitality, to brand awareness, and theming.
Lindsay graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2000 before pursing her career in NYC where she worked for a variety of museums, cultural institutions and fabrication studios on a vast array of projects. She spent over 10 years at the American Museum of Natural History as preparator and exhibit specialist. Her experience includes handling artifacts, fossils, material culture, and mount making.
Matthew Sylvester is a painter and illustrator living in Central Vermont. After earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at the Maine College of Art in Portland Maine, he spent several years working in independent comics and started his own freelance illustration business. After years of making handcrafted furniture at Maple Corner Woodworks, he joined Arcana putting all of his diverse skills to use. He has recently joined the faculty of Northern VT University teaching painting.
Kate is a multidisciplinary installation artist with a background in metal casting, welding + retail display. Originally from Baltimore MD, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2011. She has worked as a production welder for an aerospace defense company, a display coordinator for Anthropologie, and West Elm as a district display lead on the west coast, collaborating with the corporate team to create company wide display direction.
Tom is a visual guy; a 1990 graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art, he has a BFA in graphic design. His career led to being an Art Director and Creative Director for a variety of ad agencies in Boston, then later in Vermont. After receiving an Art Teacher Licensure from St. Michael’s College in 2009, Tom’s been involved with sharing his passion for the arts with children and adults. Since 2002, he has worked as a designer and fabricator on large scale art installations.
